Roush Performance has really become the big guy on the block in the past decade when it comes to superchargers for the Mustang. And that reputation has been well earned with their OEM engineering expertise to which Ford Motor Company itself has tapped into over the years for many of their own products.

Roush has built their supercharger product line on the Eaton / Magnuson M-90 compressors and in recent years their revolutionary Eaton TVS series for even higher performance. The TVS 2300 ROUSHchargers first made their debut on the 2008 Roush P-51A Mustang pumping out over 500hp from its 4.6 liter 3V V8 engine. Since then the TVS 2300 series has become well known in the aftermarket for a bulletproof way to push 600hp easily from the Mustang’s 4.6 liter engine.

Now that Ford has blown us all away with the new 2011 5.0 liter Mustang DOHC V8, Mustang aficionados have been anxiously awaiting to hear what Roush had in store. Well this week Roush Performance has announced their new ROUSHCharger TVS 2300 package for the new 2011 Mustang 5.0.

A project that has been in development for over a year, the ROUSHCharger for the 2011 Mustang 5.0 will be first available in a “tuner package”. This means that it’s just the hardware, requiring your local tuning shop to create the software to make it all work. Roush says that the basic package with the 2.3 liter TVS supercharger will generate 500-550hp on the stock fuel pump.

The system includes 47lb injectors and high flow fuel rails to provide the healthy dose of fuel required by the high compression engine. The package includes a dual-bore 60mm throttle body and higher flow filter box lid to feed the system with air. Included is a 90mm supercharger pulley, with additional sizes to become available at a later date.

Roush states that the system is able to produce well over 600hp with upgrades to the fuel system, utilizing a smaller pulley and beefing up your engine’s bottom end. When ROUSH rolls out additional versions of the new 2011 TVS 2300 system with ROUSH PCM Calibrations, there will be additional horsepower tiers. Roush expects to have additional package calibrations online sometime late this fall.

The system has been engineered in close cooperation with Ford Racing. This week Ford Racing also announced their new supercharger system which Roush helped them develop as well. The Ford Racing and Roush supercharger packages share engineering on the lower intake manifold, intercooler, intake tract and other ancillary hardware. But the big difference between the two is that Ford Racing uses a Whipple twin-screw compressor unit, where Roush uses their proprietary Eaton TVS 2300 compressor. Additionally, the two systems will have vastly different approaches to fuel management and PCM calibrations.
